Viking Lead Slingers, Youth Shooting Sports Team, Announces Registration Information.

Viking Lead Slingers announces its second season for the youth shooting sports team.  The team has a slate of nearly a dozen coaches that will teach the art of shotgun shooting sports.  They will focus on safety, education, etiquette, sportsmanship and leadership.  The team will shoot the American Trap discipline and have added the option to learn and shoot Skeet.
The team will have five weeks of practice before moving into the conference shooting schedule.  Athletes may elect to participate in three invitational or state shoots as part of their registration fees.  The athlete will receive an athlete jersey and team sweatshirt, ATA & SCTP memberships and 14-weeks of clay targets at SCC.  Athlete registration is $200 for the first discipline, the second discipline is an additional $100. Registration fees will be paid by the first practice, March 7.
Conference shoots are typically virtual versus a Southern Wisconsin conference team were 25 clay targets are counted for score.  Invitational shoots are hosted by other clubs within Wisconsin were 100 clay targets are counted for score.  Viking Lead Slingers is a member of the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) a division of Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF).
Viking Lead Slingers Registration is due February 14, 2021.  New Shooter Orientation is set for February 21, 2021 from noon – 3 p.m.  Viking Lead Slingers first practice will be Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 11 :00 a.m.  Practices continue on Sundays through the beginning of June.

Volunteer Opportunity – Monthly Pistol Range Cleaning & Maintenance

NOTICE: Volunteers needed for Pistol Range monthly cleaning & maintenance. 3rd MONDAY of each month 7-9 PM is the scheduled cleaning time. (Always check the calendar.) Training & equipment provided.

– Vacuum the range floor.
– Mop the firing area and observation room floor.
– Wipe down the firing area and observation room surfaces.
– Empty the trash, tidy the observation room, fill soap and paper towel dispensers.
– 
Replace broken fluorescent lights.
– Check and repair the target hangers and clips.
– Check and/or replace the furnace & air filters.
– Pound the bullet trap (snail).

Starts at 7 (come early if it’s your first time) and we wrap up with complimentary beverages an hour or two later, depending how much help we have. Personal protective equipment and instruction is provided.

Please note:

  1. Minimum 25 trees per species.
  2. Maximum of 200 tree seedlings per member.
  3. Some species may not be available when the order is placed.
  4. You may not receive the exact number of each species requested.
  5. Trees typically arrive mid-April. (Expect a reply text when they arrive with pick up information.)
