The 2023 Summer Trap League is starting soon! Please get your teams in by Thursday, April 20! All teams from 2022 get first dibs on the available team slots if they submit their roster by April 20.

If you don’t have a team, but would like to join one, there are some teams looking for additional shooters. Please contact scctrapskeet@gmail.com or any committee member if you would like to join.

Important league dates:

  • Deadline to register: April 20, 2023
    • Please have your teams submitted by April 20.
    • Existing teams from 2022 will be given priority until after April 20
      • If you submit after April 20, you may not get the same team number or you might not get a spot at all.
    • After April 20, new teams will be processed.
    • Feel free to drop off your team sheet on April 20 at the practice night or email your team to scctrapskeet@gmail.com
  • Practice Dates: April 20, 2023, through May 11, 2023
  • League Dates: May 18 through August 17
    • 14 weeks
  • Banquet/Fun Night: August 24, 2023
    • Annie Oakley starting at 6:00
    • Dinner at 7:30

The trap league committee is doing their best to address a few issues we had in 2022. They’re implementing a few new things to get the league running smoother in 2023. You can find out about the changes and all the league information here:

The next month is busy at SCC!

April 15, 8:00-5:00: Hunter Ed. Field Day

The main clubhouse, trap and skeet range, and the rifle range will be closed from 8-5 while new hunters attend their field day.

April 15 at 5:00 PM: Membership Banquet

This will be held at the main clubhouse. There will be an awards and member recognition ceremony, along with a raffle with cash prizes. Cost is $15 or adults with a discount for kids. Dinner includes smelt and a less fishy alternative. Come on out!

April 16: Deadline to order Viking Lead Slingers gear! We have one of the coolest logos around! Get yourself a hat or a shirt and support your local you shooting team. Order here: https://vikingleadslingers2023.itemorder.com/

April 20, 6-8PM: Deadline for trap sign-up. First of four Thursday night trap league practice nights.

Captains should turn in their signup sheets for their teams. You can bring them to the clubhouse that evening or email it. Existing teams will be given priority. After April 20 we will starting filling in new teams. If you’re interested in joining a trap team there are teams looking for extra shooters. There may also be spots for new full teams. Trap league practice night from 6-8 PM. Lights will be on if needed.

April 22: All ranges closed for 4H instructor training.

April 27 at 5:00: Long Range trap and skeet system orientation.

April 28 at 6:00: Archery Night Shoot under the trap field lights!

Come out to shoot ASA Style 3D Archery under the lights on April 28th! Luck of the draw partner shoot, first come first serve. 40 shooters max, with a 50% payout! $20 for adults, $10 for kids. Questions? Contact Addisen Wineka

May 1: Deadline for scholarship applications!

Get your applications in by May 1st! This is for higher ed students. If you are going to a college or tech school next year, you should apply! You can receive this scholarship twice, so don’t forget to apply. More info on the website: https://stoughtoncc.com/scholarship-application/

May 18: First night of trap league.

May 20: First of four Sporting Clays events.

Every 3rd Saturday until August SCC will set up a Sporting Clays course that is open to the public. All you need is a shotgun of any gauge and 50 shells (#7.5 or smaller shot). The club has some shells available to sell for the events.

2023 Summer Trap Season – COMING SOON!

All league shooters are required to be club members prior to the league starting.

League Dates

  • Captains meeting April 12 at 7:00 PM
    • Captains or a team representative should attend if possible.
    • If you’re not on a team or want to start a team, please also consider attending.
    • There will be some rule changes and other new things in 2023 that will be covered.
    • All 2022 teams have until April 20 to submit their teams for 2023.
  • Practice Dates: April 20, 2023, through May 11, 2023. 6-8 PM each Thursday
    • Use your own Long Range cards for practice rounds.
    • We can turn the lights on if necessary.
    • Long Range Orientation April 12 at 6:00 (before the captains meeting)

3D Archery League

3D LEAGUE

A new 3D archery league is starting soon at SCC!
 
This is new this year. It’s a 3D league that will run from April 3, 2023 to May 27, 2023, with eight scoring weeks.
  • There will be 16 targets per week on the woods course.
  • Shoot days will be Tuesday – Saturday most weeks.
  • Two person teams.
  • Standard 12,10,8,5,0 scoring, center 12’s.
  • Choose max yardage of 20, 30 or 40 yards.
  • All archers must be club members.
  • Cost: $50.00 per adult.
  • $25.00 per high school aged children and younger.
The clubhouse by entrance to the woods course will be open on Wednesday evenings if archers wish to come out and socialize.

Custom Fit Hearing Protection March 19

Hearing Protection Clinic March 19

On Sunday, March 19, Hear4Ever, LLC will be at SCC to make custom molded ear plugs for SCC members and families. We have several members that have these earplugs that love them. They’re much more comfortable and easier to use than foam earplugs and they can last for years.

Date: Sunday, March 19, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Location: Main Clubhouse/Archery/Trap building

Prices:

  • Adult: $75
  • Kids: $60
  • Add-ons:

The total process is around 1 hour. It takes around 10 minutes for them to make the molds of your ears, and then they’ll have the earplugs ready to go in about an hour.

The next orientation for the Long Range system is Sunday, March 12 at 2:00 PM.

Any club members that would like to use the self-service cards for trap and skeet shooting must attend an orientation for the Long Range system. You’ll learn how to use the card, how to safely use the trap and skeet equipment, and receive your card.

Free Beginner Handgun Class at SCC

MEMBERS ONLY

The Stoughton Conservation Club is offering a FREE basic handgun class for novice or beginner shooters on Saturday, February 25th from 1:00 to 4:00 PM for SCC members only.  Many aspects of handgun safety and proper handling will be discussed.  The class will include discussion/videos, hands on demonstrations, and live fire training.  Please contact Merlin by phone (608-206-1832) or email (merlinkotajarvi@gmail.com) to get more information about this great opportunity for our new shooters and/or to sign up. 
 
This class will be limited to 8 students and is open to SCC members only. If you are not a member and are interested in joining, please let Merlin know.
 
If there is enough interest we hope to be able to offer additional classes in the future, so please let Merlin know you are interested even if you can’t make it to this class.
