Trapathlon is a combination of 4 trap events:
- Singles – 16 yards
- Handicap – 25 yards
- Wobble – 20 yards
- Doubles – 16 yards
That adds up to 125 clays to break!
We plan to run the Trapathlon once per year. Trapathlon is open to the public.
Entry fee includes Lewis Class style prize awards.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I say “Trapathlon”? A: It’s pronounced like “triathlon”, but with a “trap” instead of a “tri”.
Q: Do I have to wear a singlet? A: No, but you can if you want to. We reserve the right to laugh.
Q: How many shells do I need? A: 125 + extra boxes to shoot the flurry. Shells must be 7.5 shot or smaller. Lead shot only.
Q: What’s a “flurry”? A: We connect several sporting clays throwers to one button so they all launch at once. Your group lines up and loads up. When you’re ready we press the button and launch a bunch of clays. We keep launching about every 10 seconds while you keep loading and shooting. It’s fun!
Q: Can I shoot my shotgun with a drum (or other high capacity) magazine for the flurry? A: Yes, as long as it will fire standard trap loads and can be shot in a controlled and safe manor. The flurry is just for fun, so you can load up as many shells as you like and blast away.
Q: Where can I find the results? A: Scroll down to the bottom of this page.
Q: If I win a prize how do I get it if I’m not staying until the end? A: We will mail out your cash prize sometime in September along with all of the unclaimed Sporting Clays Lewis Class prizes.
Q: This sounds fun, when is the Trapathlon? A: We’ll pick a date for the Trapathlon sometime in spring or early summer and post it here. We don’t have a set weekend yet. The first event was in early August and the 2nd was early September.
