Course Information

Stoughton Conservation Club offers Hunter Internet Field Day courses twice a year – typically in April (spring) and August (fall). Please check the SCC Website calendar for specific dates and times.

Registration Details

Why Take Hunter Education?

  • Required to purchase any hunting license in Wisconsin if born after January 1, 1973 (unless participating as a mentored hunter)
  • Required for SCC club members to participate in any firearm league
  • Serves as your small game license for the calendar year you take the class
  • Needed for out-of-state hunting licenses
  • Most importantly, it helps keep everyone SAFE while sharing hunting traditions

About the Course

  • Follows Wisconsin DNR curriculum
  • Teaches how to prevent hunting accidents
  • Emphasizes hunter responsibility and safety
  • Instructors are SCC member volunteers

Course Requirements

  • Complete attendance for the entire class
  • Passing score on written exam (true/false & multiple choice)
  • Demonstration of safe firearm handling skills

Additional Information

  • Anyone of any age can take the class, but students must be mature enough to stay focused at an all day class, strong enough to handle an adult sized firearm, and able to handle the class materials which are written for a 6th grade reading level. Ever student is different, if you have questions contact us. 
  • Students with special needs should contact the instructor at least two weeks before class for accommodations
  • Students will receive a safety education certificate upon successful completion
  • The Clubhouse, indoor archery range, trap/skeet range & outdoor rifle ranges are closed during classes
